The story behind this picture is simple. It is very similar to the Chinese Yen and Yang philosophy. The idea is to encapsulate the characters of what a good man would have. The dragon symbolizes power/strength, wisdom, confidence and leadership. The woman symbolizes compassion, commitment, empathy and control. The chain links the two parts together, though it is frail enough that the dragon knows it can sever the link anytime. The chain is gold so it symbolizes not only the link, but the importance/value each places on the chain. The dragon knows it can break the chain, but the gold reminds him that he needs the woman to be whole, so the dragon keeps the link whole on purpose. Even if the dragon breaks the chain, it would be at the smaller end and there would always be the larger portion attached, so he would always have the reminder that there was supposed to be more there where the chain is. The size differences are meant to remind me that it isn’t 2 halves, rather the largest part being the dragon, with a smaller portion of the whole being the woman. The woman values the link because the dragon provides safety and security and helps keep things in balance. Hence the name "perfect man".

I love the symbolism, but con your scenario could the woman break off her chain as well? In my experiences it was usually the woman who broke the chain.
